Coupling Fluid
Dodge coupling fluid are fixed fill mechanical soft start devices which utilize hydrokinetic energy to transmit torque via a system of impellers. The input impeller functions similar to a centrifugal pump and hydraulic turbine. When the input drive moves, it transmits kinetic energy to the oil which is distributed in the housing and transmits torque by engaging the outer impeller. The Dodge coupling fluid allows the driver to start under “no load”, resulting in a smooth start up and reduction of amp draw from the motor. Since there is no physical connection inside the housing, the Dodge coupling fluid has built-in overload protection and inherent torsional vibration absorption. Additionally, load balancing is possible with the use of asynchronous motors, instead of custom motors, since the coupling fluid automatically adjust to load speed.

T-basic version
The type T coupling fluid is the basic version of a constant-filled coupling fluid. Such coupling fluid are used in drives for different applications such as cranes, bucket conveyors, stackers and reclaimers. These coupling fluid are particularly suitable if overload protection and vibration damping are required. Your drive equipment is then protected with the added benefit of increasing system productivity. This coupling fluid is also available with two work circuits (type DT). The parallel acting circuits double the power transmission.
Additionally, Voith also offers coupling fluid with water as the operating medium (type TW). This is critical when operations are located in potentially explosive atmospheres. Furthermore, spheroidal cast iron outer casings (type TU) are available and meet the required material specifications.

TV-F coupling fluid
The type TV-F coupling fluid is a constant-filled coupling fliud used in armored face conveyors, transfer conveyors and crusher drives. Centrifugal valves control the filling and draining of the working circuit of the coupling fluid and thus the power transmission. The motor starts up almost load-free, even in the event of a voltage drop. The coupling fluid torque is released shock-free and continuously, until the required breakaway torque of the system is built up. This permits overloaded driven machines to be started up. The driven machine starts extremely gently, and the increase in torque is dependent upon the load. The coupling fluid also protects the drive against overload and dampens torsional vibration, protecting your system and increasing its productivity.
Additionally, Voith offers coupling fluid with water as the operating medium (type TWV..F).This is critical when operations are located in potentially explosive atmospheres. Furthermore, spheroidal cast iron outer casings (type TUV..F) are available and meet the required material specifications.

TPKL fill-controlled coupling fluid
The type TPKL fill-controlled coupling fluid is especially suitable for belt conveyors in rugged and tough mining industry environments. Ideal for the respective load condition of the belt, the TPKL regulates acceleration extremely gently. This protects the belt, prevents downtime and increases the service life of the system. Even very difficult start-up procedures are possible at short sequential intervals, thanks to the stand-still re-cooling. These coupling fluid ensure active load sharing in multi-motor drives.
The type DTPKL has two axially arranged working circuits that operate in parallel, enabling twice as much power transmission at the same overall height. The variant (D)TPKL-R has a flatter, although longer, tank for lower shaft center line heights. The most compact design is the (D)TPKL-E, which has no oil tank of its own. The tank is situated externally or, e.g., integrated into the swing frame.
